Damien Granderson began asking himself whether music is a profession he wants to pursue. “It was just one of those things where at first it was fun for me,” the entertainment lawyer said. “But after a while it did get kind of hard and then you got tired of sleeping on the streets and traveling through different towns in America.
And then it just kind of hit me one day where I was like, why am I doing this? So I figured I would try something else”, the lawyer added. He decided to attend the University of Florida College of Law to get his Juris Doctor degree. After working for different law firms, Damien Granderson opened his own firm called Granderson & Associates L.L.C
In 2004 he practiced entertainment law and limited liability companies for more than a decade before joining Carlton Fields in March 2017 as a partner in the firm’s Ft Lauderdale office. Damien Granderson downplays his near death experience and says that whatever happened to him all those years ago has brought him to the success that he’s enjoyed in his career.
“I didn’t do anything to earn it,” Damien Granderson said. “Like, I didn’t work hard to get where I am. I just feel like sometimes things happen for you when you’re supposed to be here, so it’s been a blessing (Instagram).”
He is married and has four children, Owen, Reese, Lily and Garret. On July 30, 2009, Granderson entered the blogosphere and our consciousness by writing a blog post entitled “Damien Granderson’s Blog“, sometimes referred to as the first online blog, which appeared on www.damiengranderson.com on July 30, 2009, but was discontinued in late 2011.
