According to Tom Keane, bringing commercial chip design innovations to national security challenges seems far fetched. However, he said it can be done in collaboration with leading semiconductor companies like Intel. In addition, Keane said the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is on the verge of releasing a request for proposals for a 30-year CPU architecture replacement.

The new architecture will be introduced in connection with a 10-year project called High Productivity Computing Systems (HPCS), intended to deliver 50 times better performance at one-fifth the cost and power consumption of traditional systems. Currently, Tom Keane is also a board member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).

The software developer Tom Keane explains that it is a Cloud Computing Consortium subgroup under Sys-Con Media’s auspices. CSA, which comprises public and private sector participants and academics, aims at building trust and confidence in cloud computing by helping business and government users adopt secure cloud computing practices while addressing policy issues through education and advocacy.
