Rachel and Andy Berliner started the company with one frozen food item in 1987. That trend setter was a vegetarian pot pie. Today the company produces over 124 vegetarian meals, 28 meals that feature low sodium, and 140 gluten free items. Many of these meals are kosher certified, opening another whole market to their products.

When considering a new offering, the staff of Amy’s Kitchen take more than just the recipe into consideration. Company president Paul Schiefer explains that every new potential product undergoes extensive taste testing. He believes that every meal created by the staff at Amy’s Kitchen needs to taste great enough to be able to be served to your closest friends and family. No meal leaves its kitchens without the creative team knowing that it will please its customers. They can assure a meal’s success because they only buy the best quality ingredients from the farmers and growers with whom they work.

Amy’s KitchenThe folks at Amy’s Kitchen not only believe in providing the best possible meals but an important part of every product is how that meal is packaged. Company officials share that every product must rely on 75% combustibility or the ability to be recycled. Currently the brand is developing product packaging that will be able to reach the 100% mark.

As for the involvement of Amy’s Kitchen within the philanthropic community, they strive to be there to help out with meals in times of disaster. The give out millions of meals to help in bad times or times of great need. The company works hard to make a difference in the communities they serve. They expect to be able to make a difference in the social environment of these communities.
