Mo Katibeh is the CEO of Spotlight
Mo Katibeh is the CEO of spotlight, a quantitative company that uses technology to provide crowdfunding services to small and mid-size businesses. The company launched back in 2007 and has since grown to include a team of over 20 staff members.
Mo Katibeh bio, who also served as spotlight’s initial Vice President of Technology and spearheaded the growth of its technology division, recently left his post in order to pursue an opportunity at Google. As the first hire for this position, he will focus on solving some of the biggest challenges facing large organizations today by leveraging Google’s deep technical expertise.
Prior to working at spotlight, Mo worked as a consultant and then as a program manager for Microsoft. He also served as the Chief Technology Officer for DoSomething.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making meaningful social change. While there, he developed tools that assisted the organization’s members with doing good work on behalf of over 100 nonprofits and helped the site reach over 10 million users every month.
Mo Katibeh has also served as an adjunct faculty member at both Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and Columbia University’s Stern School of Business. He has also taught at both the Kellogg School and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he held the first-ever course on Social Entrepreneurship.
Mo was born in Lebanon, spent his childhood in Cairo and moved to the United States as an adult. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Cornell University, studying under one of the founders of Bayesian Network Theory. Ever since then he has been involved with various technologies, including work at Microsoft on Visual Basic, Java Server Pages and Internet Security, at Stanford University on data mining and web privacy issues in medicine, at Internet2 on NetFlow Analysis and at AltaVista on user interface issues.
