Randy Douthit

Randy Douthit is a television television producer who has been working in the news industry since 1974. He has been a part of various shows over the years such as News World, Judy Justice, and The World’s Most Wanted. Randy Douthit believes that journalism is an ever-changing industry and is always adapting to new technology. He also believes that it is an important part of society and can impact change globally. For example, he was on the ground during the pandemic in Honduras and he recorded footage from this time period which showed death rates from people with HIV/AIDS. Randy Douthit says that filming this footage changed his view on what journalism should be about. He said that it used to be about a report on a story and then reporting the news. Nowadays, he says that a journalist should be able to use his or her camera as an “assault weapon”. It is now important for journalists to use different cameras. Randy Douthit believes that it is important for journalists to use the right gear and gear up before going into the field. He wants them to record footage of any relevant news that they can possibly get their hands on if it is relevant.

Douthit also believes that journalists should understand their audience before filming something because sometimes people do not have time to watch every video or read every article someone has written about something. Randy also believes that the First Amendment is very important but sometimes you should be able to say what you want and not have an issue with it. This is the reason he chooses to keep his name on his Facebook profile because he does not want to get censored for saying what people do not want him to say. Randy admits that in an industry where there are so many people trying to get their hands on news, it can become a very competitive world. He would like to encourage others who are starting out in the journalism field. He believes that they should research what they are looking into before they jump into something.
